Schubert Postcards Catalogue and Viewer
|
We are
currently working on a Schubert postcard catalogue, which is
expected to be published during 2002.
At the time of
writing (January 2002) the catalogue consists of over 700 different
postcards, plus many catalogued variants. These have been gathered
from private collections, and from exhibition catalogues. The
majority of cards have been seen by the compilers, and have full
size full colour scans of the face, plus the rear if there are
points of note. It is anticipated that the printed catalogue will
show smaller images of a typical card from each set, and each
stand-alone card: the intention being to allow catalogue users to
catalogue each card in their collections.
|
We also
have an alpha version of a multi-media postcard catalogue viewer
program to run on pcs. This displays all the scans, including every
visually different catalogued variant, and interesting backs and
packaging. It also gives full catalogue information for each card,
and plays MIDI sequences of the Schubert work associated with many
cards. Alternative sort sequences and a thumbnail view enables quick
cataloguing of any card.

|
The
editors would appreciate hearing from any collectors with
significant collections of Schubert cards, or individual unusual
items, to ensure that they are catalogued, and that the catalogue is
as complete as possible. In the first instance, please contact us at
postcards@halftimescores.co.uk.
